Not Japanese but it shared the platform and parts with the Honda Concerto.

But it says Rover. So it cant be JDM, same reason why riced out American spec Civics are JDM.
Simple.

Sort of like how the Geo Prizm is totally not a Corolla.

Why go to all that trouble to import a Rover when you could have a perfectly nice Sterling 827?

Somebody wanted a smaller car, and also GSi.

Used cars are dirt cheap in the UK, compared to the US. Any running car in good cosmetic condition is pretty much an easy $2k-$3k here, at the very low end.

I’d take it. Maybe fit a grille from a later 200 and spray the area behind black.

Back then Rover somehow managed to sqeeze any and all Honda goodness out of a Honda.

yeah we are lucky in that respect, some cars if they don’t have a valid mot you can get lucky and buy them for scrap value (less than £50 in some cases) but that’s a potential minefield for repair costs

Though the one you posted also came in three door form. Rover 216GTi.

It’s still overpriced compared to what they usually sell for though.
